Well, they’re down.
The tall, narrow buildings that have stood guard over the southeast and southwest corners of the 14 Mile-Farmington Road intersection are no more, the Farmington Observer reported today. The man who built them is still in court with the Road Commission for Oakland County over the amount of compensation he is due. Between the cost of litigation and the amount spent on construction, I can’t imagine the final check will come anything close to covering what’s been lost. The money is one thing, but the time - that, you can’t get back. And there’s a mountain of it here that seems all but wasted.
The towers were built in 2003, after years of zoning commission applications and court cases. Best case scenario, the property owner has seven or eight years invested in fighting with the city over a piece of land that ended up back in the government’s hands anyway. Seems terribly sad.

I hope they guy chokes. Those buildings were only built to take advantage of the traffic circle development. The owner never found tenants, and probably never tried. He hoped to cash in at the expense of the tax payers in his own community. He’s scum and he only got away with it because of the ridiculous law suit victory of the Sandstone development company that almost bankrupt the City of Novi. Novi ended up giving away many acers of park land to settle the bogus suit. It had cities all over Michigan too scared to really challenge bullshit by scumbag developers with friends in the courts.
