Help the Kwok family

We were in Minnesota celebrating the holiday with family when I read about the devastating accident that took the life of David Shu-Kin Kwok. This time of year, the death of a young father seems especially tragic, and yet I am also awed by his Herculean efforts to protect his young wife and unborn child.

The configuration of the book drop in front of the library has always seemed a little awkward when a vehicle is pulled up to the curb. I know a few elderly folks who have a hard time navigating the area. It’s easy to see how someone could lose their balance and fall, as Mrs. Kwok did, easy to understand why a man would panic at seeing his pregnant wife fall and forget to put the car in park before he dashed out in front of it.

Not easy, though, to imagine the grief Mr. Kwok’s family must feel during this holiday season.

A fund-raiser was held last night, and a Web page has been established with information about how to help the family: www.davidkwokmemorial.com

  • I feel proud of the Mom’s club that did so much so quickly to help the Kwok family. Never underestimate the power women have to do good and change the world. All these Moms who are busy as heck raising children of their own yet willing to organize and see a need and fill it. You gals rock!
